In April My Family and I, are going to Cincinnati for a Homeschool Convention. There are a bunch of people that are going to talk about homeschooling, and there is a program for teens. Plus my personal favorite Tim Hawkins. If you have never heard of Tim Hawkins go click the link and watch the videos. Okay, you back? Duh you're reading this. Anyway we are going to watch that man. Live. Eat it.

On a random note. I watched The Matrix Reloaded last night. Pretty cool. Also today I downloaded Google desktop. It is very nice. I can check my E-mail, the weather, the time, Search Google, watch Youtube, see football ticker, use Google translate, and play Tetris, MoonLander, Sonic, Pacman, DK, Pong, and Simon while posting on my blog.Well See ya.

On Tuesday night I went with Ryan, Cora, Adam, Mom, and Ryan and Adam's Dad, Jeff to see Psycho, and The Birds. Okay, I am going to be frank and honest. Psycho freaked me out. Also the story line is stupid. However the music was very well implemented.

The Birds on the other hand ROCKS! It is about Birds that go around killing people. Awesome. Simply Awesome. The whole time when the birds were attacking, Ryan and I said to ourselves "Go Birdies!" It was awesome. What was really cool was that at the theater we got large drinks.These drinks are not your normal larges, they are 5" across and 9" tall with free refills! Yeah! AWESOME!
But yeah see The Birds. It is well worth your time.

Fall is a multi-color relief from the green that was the scene for 6 months

It's still Summer, it's still SUMMER!! Go it? It's still Summer! I am in denial! I don't care that it is half way through October! It's still Summer! Not Fall! Okay maybe not. Maybe it is almost Winter, is that why Grandma was asking for our Christmas lists? I don't know. Another Grooveshark link, this time it is There Ain't No Rest for the Wicked by Cage the Elephant. Pretty good song but a little on the adult side.

We got a new mouse for our computer yesterday. Also yesterday I went to an Edgar Allen Poe play. It was a little but horribly acted. Then I went to the 4-H camp for Lydia's bug hunt, where Nolan got stung by a yellow jacket who's nest we literary walked on. After that Mom kicked my butt in tether ball. I guess the old lady still has it. The day before yesterday, Mom & Dad went to see Despicable Me at the $2 Theater, after which they went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Meanwhile Ashley and Miles came over here and hung out with us. Miles Nolan and I, played Super Mario Bros. 3 and messed around on my guitar. The Girls however, baked cookies, and watched Veggie Tales: Jonah on Hulu. A very fun night. Also on my parting note go to Google and search for LOL Limewire, and click on the first thing that pops up. Bye-Bye.

Hi, It's been a while since I have posted. Rather than chose one subject to post on today, I am going randomly talk in a slightly organized way. Did you know that right now I'm listening Zelda music on grooveshark? I am. On Thursday we went to the Pumpkin festival in Milton. It is kind of cool. I walked around with my friends, and tried to avoid Makayla. We found this guy that was selling football cards, movies, comic books, Nintendo 64s, SNESes, GameCubes, and the respective games. But probably the coolest thing he was selling was a statue of Luke Skywalker getting eaten by a rancor. I also bought one of the coolest movies EVER from him! The Matrix!

On Saturday we butchered 40 chickens. Num-Nums! Here is how we do it:

We catch the chicken.
We hang the chicken upside down in a traffic cone nailed to a tree.
We take a knife and slit the jugular artery in the chickens neck.
We take the chicken and skin it.
We then take the chicken and pull out all the guts.
We then plop the chicken in a gallon freezer bag.
Num-Nums!

Then after we got done butchering, I downloaded The Legend of Zelda for the NES through the Wii. Dad must have played it to much when he was a kid, because it has been 15 + years since he last played and still knows where all the secret caves are. Odd.

Yesterday, I went over to Cora's house and helped her foster care sister move into her new apartment then went to Cora's Grandparents house for a little bit. I got to mess around with their Macbook Pro. W00T! Then we went to Gamestop where Cora bought, Dragon Quest IX one of the most awesome games for the DS. Speaking of the DS have you heard about the 3DS? It is looks awesome. I hope they take the price down from Japan's $300. Well see you later people!

The School Creative Writing Lunch Assessment.

For school I am doing a creative writing book. Today I have to do a paper evaluating my lunch today.

As I walked into The Kitchen I was greeted by the warm and inviting smell of lamb liver, fried potatoes, glazed carrots and turtle bars. As I sat myself on the wooden chair, there was a plate of food thrust in front of me. As I crunched into warm liver I discovered that it was not at all to my liking. However the same could be said with almost all liver. After that livery little nightmare, I advanced onto the potatoes. The potatoes were quite hot, buttery, soft but at the same time crunchy. I then moved onto the carrots. The some what slimy texture, complimented the dish.. The turtle bars were divine.

Hi! Well I am once again, going to post about Canada. On a random fact, did you know that it is J.R.R. Tolkien week? Well it is, Mr. Frodo. Anyway let me post.

Two days ago, We went to the Canadian Museum of Civilization. It is a really cool museum. We saw a the Imax movie, Hubble 3-D. Yes an Imax in 3-D. It was kind of redundant, but cool. When they zoomed out to the scale where the galaxies were dots, the 3-D effect was great! Right before the movie, we went to the totem pole exhibit. It was really nice, and I did not know that the poles were so high! The tallest were probably 20 meters tall, and 4 meters around! When you think about how each pole was carved from a single tree, that makes it much more spectacular. Then after the movie we went to the children's museum. It was designed for people Lydia and Nolan's age but I had a lot of fun. Lydia made me put on a play with her at the theater thing about a war between Night, and Winter on one side, and Summer and Day on the other. It was a lot fun whacking Lydia with my wooden Sun mask. Yeah we got photos of it.

Yesterday, we went to The Montebello. For those who don't know, The Montebello is this huge hotel/resort/go play something/thingamabob where you hang out and do stuff. It is about halfway between Ottawa and Montreal. The main building is the largest thing made out of logs in Canada. It has a six sided fireplace, and is right on the Ottawa river. The hotel owns 65,000 acre plot of land for this park. They have lots of activities like kayaking (which was my first choice of action) ATVing, skeet shooting, and horse riding. If you know my family, you will guess that Lydia wanted to ride the horseys, and so, of course we did. I would not have ridden, but Mamaw made me. So, I went, and I got the most boring horse. The one that did not do what you told it, but stayed right behind the one in front. Also The Montebello, has this great Buffet that has everything. Even Coffee Cheese Cake!!

Today we went to The Science and Technology Museum. This is my favorite thing we have done so far this week. When we left for lunch I didn't want to leave. However once we got to lunch I then marveled everyone else, by drinking 7 glasses of water and still eating the four plates of food. At the museum we saw stuff on trains, cars, space, nuke reactors, light, Canadian inventions, computers, and, more. The thing we spent a lot of time at was a ski-mobile simulator. It took you through a track, while bumping and tilting you. We also went to journey to mars simulator. You went on movie theater seats, then the movie starts and the seats tilt 45 degrees. also as your ship moves, the whole theater moves.There also was a electricity demonstration. First she put a metal sheet on a glass sheet then put more metal on the other side. The first sheet was then hooked up to the current. The juice, shot up the first sheet then retracted with the air to make mini lightning bolts that aced over the glass onto the next. There also was a static generator, copper melter, and electromagnet.

That was all of the things we did this week. I will post best of pictures, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

I'm in Canada! Part One.

Hi there! After a 4 month leave of absence 100 Acre Wood Times is back on the air. Sorry about the wait, but we live! Time to talk!

As some of you know that I was going to Canada this week, but some of you might not have.. I am now about 30km east of Ottawa, and into Quebec. All this French crap is driving me crazy! And did you know the stop lights in Quebec are sideways? However we are not going to dwell much on that today.

Since it is a 13 hour drive from our house to Ottawa we had to make a stop in the middle. Mamaw thought that it would be nice to to stay in Niagara Falls. What she didn't think was that as it is September we would have to book a room somewhere. Wrong.We looked at 3 hotels that were full, Then finally The Giacomo said they had rooms, however it was very pricey. We went in and found to our delight, that however more than budgeted the room was well worth the price. Our room had two wonderful 3/4 meter thick queen size beds, an eight decimeter wide LG plasma HDTV, refrigerator, and huge bathroom that came with luxurious robes. We then found out that there a 19h story sky lounge that we could visit 24/7. Hey, you know how every hotel has that wimpy little meal of bagels and fruit and calls it breakfast? Well the Giacomo has those for breakfast, but also had homemade waffles, fresh scrambled eggs that you can watch them make, bacon, fried potatoes, pastries, cereal, and toast. After that, great breakfast we went to see The Falls.

The Niagara Falls are truly magnificent and can be heard form almost a km away. As we walked to the falls, Lydia was introduced to crazy city noise.We went to the American side of the Falls before bed, which are not nearly as pretty. The next day we saw the Canadian side, then drove and drove and drove. Then drove and drove and drove. After 9 hours we got here, Ottawa. We ate dinner, talked and went to bed.

Yesterday we went to The Diefenbuncker. This Nuclear War Bunker was designed to be the temporary HQ for the government in the case of a nuclear blast. This bunker was 27 meters under the ground, and was designed to withstand a 5 megaton blast from 1.1 miles away. To put that in perspective a bomb that big would be 33 times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima that killed over 120,000 people. The bunker has 100,000sq ft of floor space and could house 535 people for 30 days.

Only the top government and military bozos would be invited into the bunker. Funnily, no member of the Prime Minister's opposite party would get an invite. The people who went into the bunker would not be allowed to bring their family, not even the Prime Minister. For this reason the people who built the bunker did not think that all of 535 invitees would use their invite, that or would get killed in the blast. Prime Minister Diefenbaker (who was the head honcho at the time of building) refused to ever visit the bunker because he could not bring his wife. His successor was the only PM to visit the bunker he came he looked and cut funding in half.

Once we got inside the bunker, we saw everything was designed with two things in mind, practicality, and cheer. Every room has at least two jobs, and all the furnishings are bright colors. For example, the hospital overfill room is, 1. The before mentioned. 2. A bedroom. 3. solitary confinement room. 4. Did I mention that this room is small? Well if you got a case of claustrophobia under 27 meters of earth you were thrown into the room at once.

The rest of the bunker is what you would probably expect, bedrooms, bath rooms, meeting rooms, cafeteria, and huge freezers that double as dead body storage if someone should die in the bunker. There also was a huge vault in the basement that would hold the country's gold in the case of an emergency. After the tour of the bunker, we found the gift shop had MRTE for sale.The bunker was a very interesting museum, and a favorite of mine!

I will probably post again in 2-3 days about more that we did, and more we will be doing!

Assassination

Assassintion is the act of killing someone silently, sneakily, and hopefuly undetected. This usually happens to political figures. I will now tell you about three different famous Assassinations.

1. March 15, 44 B.C. Julius Caesar,
Julius walked into the Senate building when a group of Senators confronted him. Then one showed him a petition to return his exiled brother to Rome. When Caesar waved him him away, the man ripped up his tunic and stabbed him. Then all the senators started stabbing him. In all there were 23 stab wounds on him. It is said that Caesar said "You to Brutus?" when he saw his friend Brutus among the crowd.

2.April 16, 1865. Abraham Lincoln.
Abraham was at the theater when a man snuck up behind him and shot him. The man then jumped up onto the stage and said," The South is avenged!" Then he ran. Interestingly, Lincoln had a dream the night before showing him that he would die if he went to the theater the next day.

3. 12:30 PM, November 22, 1963. JFK.
As John and his wife were riding in a limo in a parade in Texas, he was sniped by Lee Oswald. There were four shots. Two hit Presidnet Kennedy, another hit the Governor of Texas who was riding with them. The President was hit in the back of his head. Then the limo sped to the hospital.

My Summer Goals.

As it is May it is time to start thinking about the summer, As it is I think we are going to be done with school in about 15 days. As you long time readers know, when I am on summer break there is a huge drop in the amount of blog posts. Sorry. This summer I would like to do a few things. I hope that I get everything done on my list. That would be very great.

1. I would like to get the book I am writing done and ready for a publisher. It is called, Gwencen and AnoR: The Adventures of Sam, I hope someone likes it.

2. I would like to earn $750 this summer. With that I would budget like this 33% to spending, 20% to a car fund, 10% to a tithe, and 33% to a college savings mutual fund. I would earn it with blackberry's, metal, birthday money, working for Papaw, and misc. earnings.

3.A tree house. Papaw, Miles, Lydia, and I have some pretty cool plans. There is a circle of trees up the hill about 150 feet from the house, and we are going to drill holes through each of the trees. Then we are putting eye bolts in each hole and putting cable on to the bolts to suspend the house between 4 trees. Cool huh?

Those are my goals for this summer. They are (I think.) good goals because, I like finish what I start, like to have a good income, and have some fun. Maybe you can tell me what your summer goals are in the comments?

Banyan Tree

Just to clear things up the Banyan tree is not really a tree, but a vine that surrounds a tree and then becomes a tree on it's own. This is a really cool tree, and I wish I had one. It is probably too cold here though.

These trees, as I said before, are vines that take over a tree to become a tree. They grow up to ten acres. How this happens is like this. Once the vine kills the other tree, it uses it as a prop. It grows huge branches that grow supports. The supports root themselves in the ground. Then the supports grow branches that in time grow supports etc. etc.

There are several species of this tree. There is two species from India, one from Hawaii, two from Florida, and one from Brazil. These trees vary in size from 10 acres to normal sized tree.

The Banyan tree can live up to 2000 years. To tell how old a tree is you look at how much space it takes up. When it is 233 years old it will take up one acre. If any one has seen a real banyan tree that is reading I envy you!

These are really cool trees, but I see now that if I planted one now I would not live to see it when it is huge.Too bad. I wonder if I could transplant one that is not so huge yet?

Government Salaries

I wondered what Government members make in a year. It is pretty good money. This is what I came up with.

The House and Senate: They both make $169,300 a year. I wonder how they got so high. If they want to cut government spending they should cut it here. They could save $43,104,600 a year if they cut it down to $100,000.

The Supreme Court: The Head Justice makes $217,400 and the others $208,100. Great job for life. If cut down to $100,000 a year they could save almost $1,000,000 a year.

The President: The President makes $400,000 a year. He also gets one of the best houses for free. It has 132 rooms, 32 bathrooms, a bowling alley, a movie theater, a billiard room, tennis court, jogging track, and a putting green. Also he gets a private retreat. If they cut his pay down to 150,000 they could save 250,000 dollars a year.

Those are the salaries of the main members of the government. They are a lot of money. I will use this knowledge how about you?

List of Top Ten Ways to Blow Your Money on Nothing.

This is a list of ways to blow your money. It is kind of a stupid post, but you probably should not do these things if you are working for a better tomorrow.

Go out to a busy street and hand out $5 bills.
Become a textaholic and get charged $.50 for every one.
Buy an iPad.
Cash your tax refund, and then go to a convenience store and spend it all on Twinkies.
Give it to me. (PLEASE!)
Buy a jumbo jet and give people free rides.
Start a lab project to try and make a real Harry Potter wand.
Buy Stadium Events.
Buy one of every game for the Wii ever.
Buy a nuclear bomb.

Those are things to do if you want to get rid of money. I would not recommend doing any of these things.

Sharks!!

I LOVE Sharks! Sharks are awesome. I have not seen a shark personally, and would not swim with them too gladly, they are my favorite fish. Whale sharks are my favorite kind of shark. Sharks are fish that are very large, and have a stereotype as killing machines. Sharks are dangerous but are not often aggressive to humans. There are a few fatality's but they are rare.

Sharks have cartilage skeletons, and their skin is barbed. Bull sharks have been known to swim up large fresh water rivers like the amazon, and the Mississippi. Tiger sharks are garbage disposals they have been known to have licences plates in their stomach. In the popular movie Jaws, the real life contender was a bull shark, that was near NY NY in 1910. That is my knowledge of sharks. See you later!

Columns

Right now we are learning about Greece. We had a assignment today about columns. I think it is cool how there are three main types of columns, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. This is my report.

Doric columns are the most plain of all the columns. Also the most common form of column. They were originally made of wood.Some
of the most famous structures to use Doric forms is the Parthenon, also the Colosseum.This form of column has no base but is put strait into the foundation. This is a Doric column to the right.

The Ionic Columns were not too fancy but looked pretty good. They came mostly form Asia Minor. They had a base and at the top they had some round scroll like thing at the top. Like I said it came from Hellenistic Turkey, then went to Greece, then to Rome. Photo of Ionic at left top.

Corinthian columns are really fancy. They come from Corinth. It was uncommonly used, but the temple of Zeus used them. They were slightly smaller then the Ionic, but not by much. These columns were very hard to make and were very flowery. Photo at right.

Amazon is a online shopping site. I really like it because there is no 7.5% sales tax like there is in retail stores. I buy a lot on Amazon, in fact I am probably going to buy the DSi XL on Amazon. Also I think my Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii game, is broken. If I buy another one, I will get it on Amazon. Amazon also has used stuff, and if you buy more than $25, you get free shipping. I always spend more then $25.

Last year I did almost all my Christmas shopping on Amazon. I got it done before Thanksgiving, and never left home. It was pure awesomeness. The other stuff I got at Target, where they were having a giant Wii sale, and I got 6 Wii games for $100. Retail: $140. That is why I love Amazon.com! Adios Amigos!

Hunting With a Camera

That is what I found. I found them along the drive way, in the woods, by the pig barn, and in the back yard. I went walking today 3/17/10 at 10:30 AM. It was very hilly terrain, almost on the edge of mountainous. All of these photos were taken by me, Kellen Appleton.

When Nolan and I went out today it was 60 degrees F. Nolan wanted to catch frogs.It was fun, and I had a good time. I hope that next time there are more frogs!

Photo Shop is a Adobe program that lets you edit photos, to make them have different backrounds and more people in them. i.e. (at right) This is a really cool program, but I have heard it is hard to use. I have wanted to use this for a long time. So, today I signed up for Photo Shop.

I am going to try this, it might be hard. OK it is hard, and very slow, might do this later. This is frustrating, I will wait till Dad gets home to do this. I am sorry but this is going to be a two part blog post.

Day Light Saving Time (DST)

Day light savings time is coming! That said, let us dive into info on the subject. Also some things are pretty cool like, that during daylight savings time the amount of car crashes goes down.

Day light savings time was invented by Benjamen Franklin. It never did anything but he did invent it. George Hudson reinvented Day Light Savings Time. Then in 1917, the Germans and their WWI allies went to day light saving time. The rest of Europe followed.

On the last Sunday in March, we set our clocks forward one hour. This means that instead of the sun rising at 6:00 it rises at 7:00. The red and orange on the map do not use DST blue does. On the first Sunday in November, we set back the clocks. On this day we have 25 hours.

Daylight savings time is for more time in the evening to relax, or work. Also sports stores have more sales from more sports being played in the afternoon. Also the golf industry has estimated that without daylight savings time there would be a $300,000,000 drop in sales. DST is not a year round thing because some argue that in the winter children may have to get up, and go to school in the dark.

That is why we use Day Light Savings Time. Hope you enjoyed this more then I did. It is kinda cool though.

DSi XL Fund

For those of you that did not check out my website, Lydia, Nolan, and I have a DSi XL fund. We have $39, and need $190. To raise funds we are selling stuff at the Kids Sale, and I am doing metal. After that we have no idea what we are doing. This is our second fund, the first being the Wii Fund.

If you are wondering what we want to drop almost $200 on, this is what it is. The DSi XL is a portable gaming system made by Nintendo. It is the 4th generation in the DS line. The line is DS (2004) DS Lite (2006) DSi (2009) and DSi XL (2010). The difference between them is this, the DS was really big dim and just about twice as heavy as the later DS Lite. The DS Lite had a bigger screen then the DS, was smaller, and brighter too. The DSi was slightly bigger than the Lite, but had a bigger screen, a camera, MP3 player, internet connectivity, and could download games. The XL is just a blown up DSi, but has almost twice as big a screen for $10 more. That is our DSi XL fund!

History of Nintendo.

Nintendo today is a video game company. They own the Wii, and the Nintendo DS systems. But did you know that they have a history that dates back to before the 20th century? Obviously video games were not invented then. What was a video game company to do?

When Nintendo was founded in 1887, they were a playing card company. They made hand made hanafuda cards made on mulberry bark. They kept doing this for a while then they went to plastic cards. They were the first to do this and were very popular. Then they put Disney people on the cards, this made them even more popular. By 1963 they were looking for ways to make even more money. Nothing made them much money, but the toy market did pay for its self. Then cards became unpopular in Japan. Nintendo sunk and was doing nothing. Then they saw a fixer guy they had hired made an arm to pick things up for you so that you would not have to bend down. They marketed this and Nintendo was going again.

That same fixer guy got moved to development, and started making electronic toys. These made more money, and were Nintendo's ticket to success. Seeing their success, Nintendo then started making video games. They started with a simple game system called the Color TV Game 6. Then they started making arcade games like Donkey Kong, and Mario Bros. (Not Super Mario Bros.) Then they went into more home consoles releasing The Famicom (NES) in Japan, along with Super Mario Bros, and R.O.B. They were a blowout success, and in North America they had a 95% market share.

In 1990 they released The Super Famicom, (SNES) they were pushed down at first by SEGA and their Genesis. But Nintendo fought them out with Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, and more. Then in 1996 they released The Nintendo 64, but Sony released the PlayStation. Sony then just destroyed Nintendo from there out. Then in 2001 they released the GameCube. Again Sony released the PlayStation 2, the best selling system ever. Again Sony destroyed them. Microsoft this time helped kill Nintendo with the Xbox. In 2006 Nintendo released The Wii. Sony released the PlayStation 3 (at $700) Microsoft the Xbox 360. This time Nintendo absolutely destroyed everyone, and still is. (I forgot to put in the handhelds history, I will do that another time.)

Eragon

I was reading a very good book a couple of days ago and I am now doing a book report on it. Eragon is a fantasy book written by Christopher Paolini. It is about a boy that rode a Dragon and had a bunch of adventures in Alagaesia. It part of a four part series that has three books published.

Eragon is about a young boy named Eragon, son of None. (In Eragon, his father's name is not known.) He lives in the village of Carahall in Alagaesia. (Map at bottom. Also I have some background on the races and country's in the area. This will make more sense if you read that first.) When hunting in The Spine, Eragon comes across a odd blue stone. The stone appeared with a bang, scaring the herd of deer that he was hunting. He brought it home thinking that it might be valuable, and that he could trade it for meat. He found no value for it in the village. Then he brought it home. After a week, he found it to be hollow, and the next morning it was gone. There was a Dragon instead. The Empire then destroys his farm and his Uncle looking for the stone. Then Eragon goes on a quest with the village storyteller, Brom who knew all about the Dragon Riders of olden times.

By going to Teirm, and looking at the shipping records for the deadly poison used on Eragon's Uncle, they tracked down the servants of Galbatorix. (The Evil King of the Empire.) During the journey, Eragon learns magic, sword fighting, and about dragons as a race. (Dragons are as intelligent as humans, and had their own culture, and homeland. They had been almost destroyed, by the King, and there were only two eggs, and two dragons left.) Also Eragon was having weird dreams about a woman that was imprisoned. They went to Dras-Leona, the place of the killers lair. As they searched the city they were ambushed by the Raz'ac (the killers) and caught. They then escaped with the help of a strange stranger named Murtagh. Brom was mortally injured in the attack, and died later. Before he died he revealed that he used to be a Dragon Rider. Then Murtagh, and Eragon travel to Gil'ead were there is an agent of the Varden. Then there they find then the woman that Eragon was dreaming in the town prison. Finding that she is an Elf, he helps her escape, but has to fight a Shade first. (A Shade is a sorcerer that is possessed by evil spirits. They are very strong sword fighters, and spell casters.) They then go to the Varden with the Elf in a coma. Once in with the Varden, which were staying with the Dwarves, the Elf wakes and The Empire attacks with Urgals, and Durza: The Shade. They win, and destroy Durza. The Book ends.

That is the book Eragon. It is in my opinion very good, and very well written. I love fantasy, and this book is a prime specimen. Also Christopher Paolini, was home schooled, and I have a preference to that too. He wrote this book when he was fifteen. All around this is a great book, and an even better series. I hope you enjoyed this. Maybe you will get the book and love it too!

This is not an entire map but almost, and you don't need to know about the far east in the first book. Also The Empire has no official name, but has borders not shown on the map. It starts at the edge of the Hardac desert, and goes to the east coast. The forest is not controlled by the Empire, but the Elves that live unknown to the general public. Other than the forest the Empire goes to the top edge of the map, and continues down to Surda, whose borders are clearly marked. The Beor mountains are in the control of the Dwarves who also like the Elves, live in secret, to the citizens of the Human Empire. The Dwarves reach goes to the Far East then up to The Du Weldenvarden forest. Surda is a country that succeeded from the empire. Surda is in a cold war with the Empire, the Empire really wants that land but does not want to show open war. The Southern Islands are part of Surda. Shark tooth Island is part of the Empire, and the Empire has claimed Vroengarg, but has no real control over the bandit run island. Urgals, are a race of war loving monsters that lives hidden in The Spine. The Varden are a band of rebels that hate the Empire, and have no real land, but are contently shifting.

My mother and I have an argument. Is a baby pig cuter, or a baby goat? I "LOVE" baby pigs! Goats are cute, but pigs are cuter. My mother however likes baby goats SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much! She thinks that goats are the cutest thing ever. I disagree, I need your support! Help me win this argument! Or are you weird and think that new born rabbits are cuter? You there? You think that new born rabbits are the cutest! You disgust me! This is why.

The Electoral College

A couple of days ago I wondered why do we use an electoral college? Why not popular vote? Mom gave me an assignment to find out. Here is where I did my research . This is very interesting, how the founding fathers made this, is very cool.

The electoral college is the way we elect our presidents. When there is an election for the president, the people vote, and in most states who gets the majority gets all the electors. Every state chooses their electors. How many is decided by congress. It works like this, Wyoming has two senators and one representative. So they have three electors. California has two senators and 53 delegates. So they have 55 electors. Maine and Nebraska use another system that works like this. Say presidential candidate John Q. Public wins 2 representative districts, and Joe Shmoe gets 3 districts. Joe gets the 3 he won, plus the two senate votes. John then gets his 2.

Why they did this was because in 1790 it was really hard to keep track of every single vote in every single state. The electors helped because then you only have to record one state at a time. Then the elector will (mostly) vote the same way. There are 538 electors. If each candidate got 269 electors, the House of Representatives would break the tie. (This was done in 1800 for Thomas Jefferson, and later for John Quincy Adams.)

There are some flaws with this system though. One of them is that the electors are not bound to vote like the people. They can vote anyway they want.(As shown in 1948, 1960, and 2000.) Also people don't like the winner take all system.

Popular vote would now work, but would give Republicans more power that the Democrat controlled congress would not like. It would give the republicans more power, because they control most of the less populated areas with the electoral system. I they used popular vote, they would have more votes, from the more populated states.

There you have it. That is how the electoral system works, was developed, and what is wrong with it. I learned a lot from this I hope you did as well.

Olympics

Tonight is the start of the 2010 winter Olympics. I am really looking forward to it. I like the summer games better, but these are fine. I may be at the library during the oping ceremony. I like Canada but I wish the games were in Anchorage.It may be too cold though, and too little population. Hope we can get an American city in 2020!

The gaming population has some games on the games. Such as Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Also Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. These are fun games that have gamer appeal and Olympics people.

History of Valentine's Day

As it is almost Valentine's Day, I will look into its history. (Half of the history is that Hallmark is a very evil company.) Why is it called Valentine's Day? Why do we send cards, and spend several million dollars on this day? We shall find out! (Also I was reading about this, and Valentines day is the second most card selling day of the year! I told you Hallmark was an evil company!)

Some places say that St. Valentine was a Roman. The emperor deemed that soldiers were better when they had no family. He banned young adults from getting married. Valentine thought this wrong, and married people in secret. He was caught and killed, but before getting killed he started "your Valentine," by writing a letter and signing it, "your Valentine."

In Rome the 15th of February was a festival where Roman priests went to a cave on the edge of the city. There they sacrificed a dog and goat, and dipped pieces of goat hide in the blood. The men then took the strips of hide and went to the town and hit all the women with them. The women all went into the street trying to get hit, because it was said to increase fertility. Also the men hit the fields of crops with them as they were said to produce more when hit. Also the unmarried men put all the unmarried womens names in a pot. Then each bachelor would take turns drawing names from the pot. Whoever's name was drawn from the pot was paired until the next festival, when they would draw another name unless they married each other. Valentine's Day may have been started by missionaries as a way to stop this festival.

In England they started Valentine's Day in the 17th century. They started with hand written notes. Then when the press was invented used printed notes. By the 1840s they were selling printed Valentine's in America. Did you know that 85% of cards sold are bought by women? Valentine's Day is on the calender in the US, Canada, UK, France, and Australia.

There you have it. Valentine was a marriage outlaw. Valentine's Day may have been started by missionaries to stop a pagan Roman festival. The holiday was popular in England in the 17th century, and America in the 19th. Hope you can use this sometime!

Duct Tape Wallet II

As I said in the last post, I was going to make my own wallets. I made them this last couple of days. I had two rolls of duct tape, one yellow and one gray classic. With those rolls I made a yellow wallet and a gray one for me. I also made Nolan a yellow one, modified my black one. I am going to make Viv a gray one. I used the same video that I posted. I gave Nolan my first attempt at it, then started my own. I did the yellow ones first then the gray.

I put a triforce on the black one that Aunt Delilah made. Here is a real photo.

Duct Tape Wallet

I received a duct tape wallet for Christmas this year. Nolan got one as well, but he liked my old one better, so we traded. I now have two duct tape wallets one black and one camo. I really would like to have a classic duct tape color wallet. I have decided to make one, but I have not stared yet. Aunt Delilah who is really crafty (The scrap booking way and the craft way. Not the sneaky way.) Made Nolan, Miles, and I a duct tape wallet each. She said that she found a youtube video that showed one how to make a duct tape wallet. The Branches of the Goverment

The US government was set up so that no one would have too much power. The solution to this was to have branches that check each one. The branches are the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch. They are the ones who run our country. As you read this essay, you shall be enlightened.

The executive branch is the head of government. It contains the President, his Cabinet, and the Vice President. The President has the power to veto Congresses laws, is the Commander-in-Chief of US armed forces, handles the international relations, and can make an executive order. A few of the members of the cabinet include the Secretary of the State, the Secretary of the Defense, and the Secretary of the Treasury.

The legislative branch (AKA Congress) is in charge of all law making. They are in two houses. The one house is The House of Representatives. They have 435 people in it. They are from all the states of the union. Each state has the number of Representatives per state based on population. The Senate is the other house. All states have equal representation in the Senate. Each state has two senators. Currently with 50 states there are 100 senators. If there ever happens to be a tie in the votes the Vice President’s vote is the tie breaker.

The system on which they make laws is explained here. One of the two branches of congress (The House of Representatives or The Senate) will find a gap in the law. Either an old law that needs patching, or a new law that they think needs made. The Senate (or whoever, but in this explanation the Senate makes the bill) votes on the bill. If it passes, it then goes to the House. If not, then it dies. We are assuming the bill goes all the way. The bill goes to the House. The House adds and takes away from the law. If the House can not agree on a bill then it is dead. The House then says to the Senate that this is what we want. Then they compromise on the bill. When they agree they send it to the President. He says, ‘Hey this is a great idea lets do it” or “No I do not like this.” Then it is a law or it is dead....... almost.
If congress really likes the bill, then they can vote again. If they can get enough votes to get the 2/3 majority, then the bill passes without the Presidents ok. Then the President will say, “OH NO! The darn congress people got enough votes to make me seem, small, week, and insignificant!” There you go. That is how they make laws.

The judicial branch serves as the Supreme Court and interpreter of the law and/or constitution. Their ruling can not be over ruled. The justices are appointed by the president and approved by the senate. They serve a life term.
That is how our government branches work. They make laws. They spend lots of money. They build BIG missiles, and smooth roads. That is the government is a nut shell.

Typing Bet 2

Dad won. I lost. By 2 points! The point system is you add the WPM to the % right. So now I owe Dad a Wii game. Dad said that he might buy Wii motes. That would be great, as we are in want of controllers. Black and blue, that is the color combo that I would like. Still no word on Dads choice of game. Maybe Wii points for retro games? Metriod? Mario Kart? The Unknown?

You now see that I was good, but Dad was better. That has got to be one of the worst things ever. Dad gets a Wii game and I have to spend $50. DANG! The $50 is more important, but I own at least a stake in all the games except Nick Toons Unite! (stupid) High School Musical 3 Dance! (stupid) and last and not at all least, Wii Sports Resort! (awesome). Now do you see? Dad is bound to get an awesome game, and it will not be mine! Not that important, but still. That is the magical Adventure of The Typing Bet!

P.S. I watched Pee-wee Herman, and it is in the top 10 stupidest movies ever!

I do not know if you know, but I like the Colts. The colts last night got to the Super Bowl which is the most awesome thing EVER! I think that they will win in Miami again, the Saints WILL lose. Peyton will deliver, and the pass rush and secondary will stop the Brees. Say what you will all ye Saints fans, but The COLTS ROCK! It is kind of funny because Payton grew up in N.O.

But hey, about the Super Bowl. Who will YOU root for? WHO will win? Deck out for the game with Colts Gear, or you can be a sucker, and go with Saints gear. The game is on the 7th at 6 PM on CBS. As many of you know we do Christmas different than most people. On the 25th we have our small family Christmas. In the week between Christmas and New years we go to G+G's house for Christmas. On the 17th we have our Amish Christmas with Mom's family. We do this because we want to keep down the chaos level.

Now to inventory. I got this stuff form mom and dad: Awesome socks, a swiss army knife with book about swiss army knives, Jason Henderson's sermons which has to be the best thing I got all Christmas, and Switchfoot's Hello Hurricane. At G+G's house I got Wii Fit Plus, Nintendo power, more awesome socks, cash, Qwirkle, and more. On the 17th I got Nerf guns, Awesomeness Switchfoot stuff, and more stuff that has been forgotten but not less appreciated.

This is my first time betting. I bet Dad that I could type faster than him at the end of a week. Neither of us has ever been able to type correctly ever! The bet is in a week I can type the entire key bord faster than him, the loser, (AKA Dad.) Buys the other a Wii game. I am thinking Wii Sports Resort or Mario Kart. No idea of what Dad would want.

Typing has never been my forte, But the Wii is. I want more controllers too, so if I lose, no controllers. We got NSMW for Christmas ( from me.) It is a Multilayer game, but we only have 2 controllers. It is really a fun game, but is more fun when played with friends We have been working hard here.

Come on people! Get a grip! It is not like in 18 days it's Armageddon! Come on even my sister is all worried because she only has gotten one present! She's seven, SHE'S SEVEN! OK, enough raving lunatic.

The Internet is a wonderful thing. I would not be able to do half of my Christmas shopping without it, or my school. It serves as a wonderful communication devise, and it is a great source of laughter. It can also be place for fun, and a place to make money. It can also be a way to keep in touch with old friends. I use many sites, and do a great many things with them.

Amazon, I do at least 50% of my shopping on Amazon if not 75% this is a great site for a couple of reasons. One, convenience, do all your shopping with 1 click, even groceries! Two, there is no tax in most states, and if spend more than $25 from Amazon direct than there is no shipping! These reasons, and others should tell you to shop on Amazon! Ebay is also a shopping network, and you can buy more stuff, but it is an auction.

Wikipedia, and others serve as a great research device, but with Wikipedia all material can be edited by everyone and is often one person's opinion instead of fact.

Through E-mail, and Facebook you can keep in touch with friends and family. This is great for when you have family across the country or anywhere that you don't want to wait for mail to come, or don't want drive to go there often.

To laugh your head off with stuff online, I recommend Cake Wrecks , Fail Blog, and There, I Fixed it. These sites are hilarious!

There are many sites that allow you to play games on them including this one, if you scroll down to the bottom there is pac-man. You can also play games on the many apps on Facebook, including Farm Town, Farmville, Yoville, and more! There are many other sites with games such as Ninja Kiwi, and free math games. If Iwould give anyone a guide to the internet, this is what I would tell them, "Follow this, and you will never be bored!"

Thanksgiving

Hi peoples of the world! I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving, and sufficiently stuffed themselves. Also I hope that they survived Black Friday, and will spend less than $100 on Cyber Monday. The media has had a heyday with Christmas specials like, Merry Madagascar BEFORE Thanksgiving! And last night CBS had "The Dog Named Christmas." On Wednesday they will have Rodolph the Reindeer.

My Thanksgiving was fine. We lived in Dessert Land as we had and apple pie, 3 pumpkin pies, a cheesecake, a date pecan pie, a pecan pie, a chocolate pecan pie, pumpkin cookies, angel food cake, Troyer's cinnamon rolls, Viv's favorite the fruit roll up, and of course date pudding. We had turkey, Venison fillet wrapped in bacon, killed a week ago (not by me,) WHICH GRANDMA TRIED!! , home grown broccoli, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and more high cholesterol foods. As for people we had us, the Millers across the street, G+G , Hazel and Terry, my mom's uncle Vern and Aunt Brenda from Buffalo NY, Mom's cousin Pam and her husband Hans, and the Farrs. That concludes our post.

On Friday I am going to a lock-in with Ryan, and I noticed it was on Friday the 13. Why is it unlucky?

This is what I found out. Friday the 13 is a day donned to be unlucky. The fear of this day is Paraskevidekatriaphobics.The fear of the number 13 is called triskaidekaphobia.One theory says that Friday was unlucky and so was 13 thus Friday the 13 is ultra unlucky.

I found that several things have happened on Friday the 13. In 1307 King Richard arrested the Knights of Templar on Friday 13. In 1733 22 ships left Cuba on Friday the 13th. They met a hurricane and turned back. Only 4 ships survived. In 1972 there was a plane crash in the Andes with a rugby team on it. It crashed on Friday the 13th. Later a movie was made out of this. In 2004, a hurricane named Charlie hit Florida on Friday the 13.

Some things are released on Friday the 13 for effect. Resident Evil 5 was released on Friday March 13, 2009. And four of the jason movies were released on this date. But it is safer to drive on Friday the 13 because less people go out on the roads, kinda hypocritical, but whatever. Click for more info.

The West Virginia History Museum

The WV State Museum is a museum of WV history in Charleston, WV. It is set up so the entire museum is a giant walk through time. It also has oral explanations of the exhibits via speakers in the ceiling. The line starts at 300,000,000 B.C., and then goes through various time periods up to current times. Each exhibit explains how the time period affected West Virginia as a state.

In the beginning, there was a room that was prehistoric and had a lot of fossils of ferns and other plants. These fossils eventually decomposed and became coal. West Virginia is rich in coal deposits. In that same room there is a 4000 pound block of coal that was used as a desk in an AEP office.

In a room for the Civil War there is an actual Civil War Stars and Bars Confederate flag, and a Civil War cannon. This room had cool sound effects that sound like a battle from the Civil War. West Virginia during this time became a state when Virginia succeeded from the Union.

There is a room in the middle of the walk that has an old fashioned switchboard from the 1930’s 50’s. Across from that is an old movie theater that for some odd reason had leopard print seats.

Near the end there is an exhibit of all the military uniforms from The Spanish American War until The War on Terror. This was also interesting because in the wall they had mini TVs that showed first hand accounts of West Virginians who had fought in the wars.

At the end there was a room that had a box of 27,000 marbles all made in WV. Slightly past that room, there was a slide show of photos of West Virginia that has some cheesy John Denver playing in the background. WV must like cheesy music, oh well.

An interesting point is that the floor shows the main mode of transport in the era. For example, at 300 million B.C. the floor was covered in dinosaur tracks, and as time progressed there were human tracks, horse tracks, cobble stones, railroad track, brick, cement, and asphalt.

This museum is a very interesting museum that showed the history of WV very well. It was as informative as it was interesting. The cool displays matched with hard fact. A history museum that rocks!

Best Gaming Console

I have been wondering what the opinion of my readers is. Here is the question. What is the best gaming console? Are you hard core gamer in HD? Let me guess, the PS3. Sorta casual, but like your graphics? You want the 360. Cheapo gamer? The PS2 right? New gamer, casual, don't like a lot of buttons, and just want to have fun? Let me introduce, the Wii. Nimrod's Plan

This is a project of mine for school.

Nimrod: His Relations to Nineveh.

After the great flood, God commanded Noah and his sons to go forth and populate the lands. Nimrod was a great-grandson of Noah, the grandson of Ham, the son of Cush. He was a great hunter before the Lord and a great warrior.

Nimrod thought the people could have great strength if they stayed together. He saw that if the people obeyed God and spread out, they would lose strength. So, Nimrod started a campaign to found cities that he would run. He went in the area of Mesopotamia built many cities. The most notable of these were Nineveh and Babylon. Later these cities would fight to be the most powerful in the Euphrates and Tigris river area.

Nimrod was angry at God for destroying the Earth. He didn’t want the people to follow God. He became dictator like to control the people. He pledged to build a tower in Babylon that would be so high if God flooded the world, the waters would not reach it.

The people of Babylon decided they should build the tower to make a name for themselves. They started building what we now call the tower of Babel. God confused their languages so the people could not build the tower and they would spread out. This ended Nimrod’s plan to keep the people together.

Though the people did spread out, the population skyrocketed and the cities continued to grow. Nineveh and Babylon became powerful rivals in the area. They had many battles. Eventually Nineveh was destroyed. A nearby river flooded so badly that it eroded walls of Nineveh, and made the walls collapse. With their defenses weakened, Nineveh was invaded and destroyed by its enemies.

It is ironic that Nineveh was destroyed by flood. Nimrod hated God because of flood, yet God used flooding to destroy the city that Nimrod built. This shows that Nineveh was evil all the way and never a good city.

God can be harsh, yet he is very kind. Nimrod got caught up in the old man, or adam. He wanted to make the people powerful. He wanted to do things his own way, not the way that God had commanded. He did not see the big picture of how God had created billions of square miles for the taking. God also saw that the world’s population would go up to astronomical amounts. So God planed for this. God knew Nimrod’s plan before it happened, and planned to confuse the people’s languages. This shows that God is all powerful and he loves his people.

Hi, yesterday was when the co-op came to our house. We took a walk down to the creek it was fun. On that same walk we saw the pigs, and saw the guest house. When we got to the bottom we played a little football in the hay field.

Then we walked back up and tried to catch chickens, mostly roosters. Ryan caught a big, fast, mean green, juking machine, and named it Big Papa. We caught all the roosters. We named one that was fast and put up a good fight Troy Polamalu. We named a Leghorn, Adrian Peterson. We named a rooster that was fast and could jump 5 feet in the air Randy Moss, and I forget the other names. All the roosters were good, but none as challenging as Big Papa.

For lunch we had a pig roast. It was really good, but we roasted too much. We froze the leftovers, and we will eat well for a long time. Mom posted about it here. That was what happened yesterday at the Acche Fall Fest at the Appleton's

Ah fall, I love fall because it is pretty. It does not roast my butt off, and it means Christmas and Thanksgiving are coming! The bad things are it freezes my butt off. It's cold. It's flu season, and did mention it's cold? You are probably thinking "Does he hate cold or what?" Yes I do. I love snow, but hate cold.

Fall is a time of fun though. I like all the fairs, pumpkin fests, fall fests etc. etc. Here we just had our Pumpkin Festival. It was fun. Ryan's mom posted about it here.

Fall also means Christmas shopping. I have been saving my money, and I have decided to give nice presents this year. I won't spend all of it because I have been saving since May. I want something for me out of it. I am thinking of an iPod Nano. I still think that I will spend $125 on Christmas presents.

Fantasy Football

Football is awesome, but I am not that great. I thought that fantasy football would be a good idea. I was right. It is pretty dang great! I have not played any games. It is just the pre-season, but I have been managing my players. Right now I am trying to get Larry Fitzgerald by trading Stephen Gostkowski. Is that fair? We had the draft last night. I did OK. I got two good QBs, Peyton Manning, and Big Ben Roethlisberger. I did well on a K, Stephen Gostkowski. He is the Patriots kicker. At RB I have Steve Slaton, and Chris Johnson. They are from the Texans and the Titans. At TE I have Owen Daniels who is also from the Texans. At WR I have Greg Jennings and Hines Ward, which are from Green Bays and the Steelers, and as my defense I have the Vikings. To see my complete roster go here.

In our league there is 8 teams, Dad, Ryan, Adam, Evan, Alex, Ryan's Dad Jeff, Ryan's friend Caleb, and I. If anyone knows how to play fantasy football skip here. Here is how you play. You join a league, or if there is over 4 people you create one. Then you do the draft. You randomly decide who picks first in the draft. Whoever picks first in the first round picks last in the second round and vice-versa. To score points, the real NFL players have do it, not you. To score points on offense through your QB, you get one point for each 25 yards of completions. If you get a passing touchdown, you get 6 points. If your team passes a pick, you lose a point. If you lose the ball on a fumble, you lose 2 points. To earn points through your RB, you get a point for every 10 yards rushing, and 6 points for a touchdown. To get point via your TE or WR, you get 1 point per ten reception yards, and 6 for a touchdown. For your Kickers to score points, a 0-19 yard field goal is 3 points. 20- 29 yards =3 points. 30-39 yards =3 points, 40-49 yards =4 points. 50 or more yards =5 points. For points made by the defense, it is one point for a sack, two for a fumble recovery, 6 for a touchdown, 2 for a safety and two for a blocked kick. If your defense allows 0 points, you get ten points. If they allow 1-6 points you get seven. 7-13 = 4, 14-20= 1, 21- 27= 0 28-34= -1 35+= -4. That is how you play fantasy football.

Hopewell Indians

The Hopewell Indians (Native Americans NA for short.) Where a NA group centered in Ohio. They built mounds shaped like huge animals, or cones. These burial mounds could be hundreds of feet long. These mounds were filled with bones, and pieces of pottery.

The largest group of these mounds is in Chillicothe, Ohio. This group of mounds is called mound city and has tens of mounds. For more info on these mound at mound city go here.

The Wii Fund

As many of you know from the Wii review, I am saving for a Wii. Though many of you do not know the details. Wii are saving for a Wii by getting birthday money, finding coins, cleaning out old piggy banks, and at the moment the Wii's greatest asset is an unknown sum in the range of $75-120. How are we getting that money?

Well, it all started a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away. "cough cough" I mean it all started when my Uncle Kent was a small child, and he got this giraffe piggy bank. Ever since, the children of this family have put the money in the 3 foot tall plastic giraffe which is now full of 50-60 pounds of pennies, and the time is right for us to empty it and put it in the Wii fund. Man, I had no idea that homegrown pig tastes so much better than store stuff. How do I know this?Well we just butchered our first pig, and it is SOOOOOOO good. We just ate some of the sausage last night on pizza, and as I said before, it is SO good.

We have more pigs! That is very cool. Because I love pigs. We had 17 piglets! That means we have 38 pigs including 18 that are ready to butcher! Pigs + feed=big pigs + butcher or market = $$ or food! More pigs means we are closer to self sufficiency.

Wii Review

It is the video game system that everyone has been talking about, and everyone has an opinion, either good or bad. I personally like it very much. I have played the Wii quite a lot, though I do not own one. (I am saving for one!) for this blog post I will review the Wii.

Nintendo did a nice job on the Wii. They combined modern tech with nice games. They boosted their standing by including retro games on their Wii points system. Another nice bonus is that you can play Game Cube games on it, a nice bonus for those owning Game Cube. You can add things in the Wii channels such as Internet, news, and weather. They are nice also, but no nice thing in life comes with out its down side:( Such as bad graphics, the lack of a DVD player, high price compared to the much more powerful (graphics wise anyway) Xbox 360, and lack of availability.

The summarised version is:

Pros

Appealing to both the casual and hardcore gamer.

Has the program to play retro games.

Has Internet capabilities

Has a SD port to connect to your camera to photo shop.

Cons

Slightly over priced.

Bad graphics

Lack of a DVD player

King Tut

We are talking about Egypt in history so I thought that I should bring it to the blog. Here is an article about it. Plus to keep up with the stereotypical Egypt here you go.

Ok I'm back anyway today we heard about this guy called Howard Carter, let's check him out.

Well this guy (We will call him Howard) was an Egyptologist, (yes that is a word) and an archaeologist. He was born in London in 1874 where he was raised with little formal schooling. His father schooled him in art for that was the family business. When Howard grew up he did not want to be an artist, so he went to Egypt where he got a job and then resigned after a small incident. He then met a English lord who funded a expedition to find the tomb of King Tut, who was not well known at the time. He found the tomb after about five years of looking. They found wall murals in the tomb that told us about old Eygptian life. They also found a mask that was pure gold! It took them almost ten years to get all the stuff out of his tomb. Finally he put that dead guy (King Tut) back in his grave. That was interesting , but I'm done now.

Co-op Football

Last Tuesday was the first day of the new Co-op semester. One of my favorite things about co-op is playing football with the guys (and one of the guy's sister.) As you saw from the last post, I got a Nerf football, and Ryan is a high punter. The gym we play in has these under hangs. So, here is how the problem goes; football+ Ryan+ under hang=11 lost balls to date. I am not letting Ryan punt my football EVER unless it is outside

Anyway back to the subject. As you now know, we play in a gym. It is nice, but it is not so nice while you have 50-60 kids running around when you are trying to play football. No, we do not play tackle. We have kids weighing between 150lbs and 50lbs. We play hand touch football either two hand but mostly one hand touch because Ryan and Alex are so hard to get two hands on. If you have both of them on one team and you are on that team I guarantee you will win.

Christmas Time

I love Christmas time don't you? Presents, family, and Mom on the brink of insanity. What is your favorite part? I like it all, but especially the presents.

Now what we did this season. Well #1 we had Christmas at our house on Christmas. Then we had Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa's on the 27th, and then on the 31st we had Miller Christmas.

I also had a good Christmas when you look at it gift wise. I got:

Zeldapedia

As most of you know, The Legend of Zelda is my favorite game, well I have found this really cool site called (hence the name) Zeldapideia. It is an encyclopedia of The Legend of Zelda. It has in depth articles on things that aren't in the games. It is nice, very nice. I have leaned more about Zelda in 5 days than in my inter career as a fan.

I have a store of know-how now I hope this comes in handy some time, probably not but you never know. See-ya (well I won't see you but you know what I mean.) P.S. My favorite games are The Orcarina of Time and The Wind Waker

Silkworms

For many, many years silk has been a very very popular cloth. So popular Europeans, including Marco Polo, traveled from Europe though desert and mountains to get to China, the home of the silk worm.

The silk worm has been so heavily domesticated there are no wild ones left, and the domesticated ones could not survive 1 day in the wild. The silkworm's cocoon has 1500-3000 feet of raw silk. The silk worm prefer the leaves of the white mulberry tree, but will also eat the leaves of the tree of heaven. The ancient Chinese kept the silkworm a secret for over 3000 years!

Silk manufacturing is very complicated first the silk is unwound, then it is braided to make it strong enough to handle, it is then steamed, and dried. Silk threads are different sizes small for sewing and big for weaving.

Every way you look at it silkworms are amazing creatures!

Thanksgiving

Now that Thanksgiving is over we can now lay down and cross off the days until Christmas. Wait! What did I do this holiday season, you say? Well nothing much just had a heck of a lot of people over, ate till our stomachs burst, played games, and made cookies.

We got our Christmas tree on Saturday. It was lots of fun even though the place is about 50 miles away. We always get a live tree. Do you? Decorating was also fun. I made a paper chain today. Can't wait for Christmas!

Well, as you see in the title I have nothing to talk about. NOT! (ish Fine I did it again I used ish as a word.) Now that I look at it I am not in a big hurry to get that digital converter! Yes, I know, the modern sit on your butt all day and burn your eyes out Americans out there are screaming in protest. But for me, I say if I don't see the ads I don't want it. We have DVDs, video games, and don't we already use them too much? I mean sure I will miss Jeopardy and the Amazing Race, but really, if you need entertained, read a book. What did they do in the 1800's? That's right they worked to get stuff done, and if they had nothing to do? They would read! Oh yeah, I did make a dime today hence the title, so there.

This week has been pretty busy. We have to go some where every day this week. (I think mom's head is going to explode.) We go to band on Monday, some meeting on Tuesday, yesterday we went to a musical, today I have an orthodontist appointment, tomorrow and Saturday we help the Richardson's move. Sound crazy? Yeah, it is.

Oh yeah, can someone tell me why the heck Christmas stuff was out a week before Halloween? I have the XM on the Christmas channel. Why is on already? They just put out stuff early so we buy more! We are so focued on stuff!

Co-op at our house

Yesterday, we had Co-op at our house. It was fun, and we had more people here than we have ever had before. We had sack races, a stringy version of bobbing for apples, hay rides, petted the animals, had a scavenger hunt, and roasted marshmallows.

This is a full summary of the day. 6:00 AM - Got up. Ate breakfast. 6:45 AM - Out the door to get ready. Moved tables. Cleaned up. 9:15 Am - The Blacks arrive. 9:30- 10:00 AM -Guests arrive. 10:00 AM Co-op starts. 3:oo PM- Everyone gone. 4:45 - Dad and I go "hunt" at the Richardons'. That was our day

Camping

I haven't gone camping in forever. On Saturday I went with some friends to Carter Caves. We camped and it was 32 degrees at night! But it was fun, very VERY fun. We played mini-golf, went trick or treating (It was Halloween in the camp, but it was isolated from the rest of the world.) went to a cave. It was a boring walk in the park with cement walkways, bridges, and a tour guide. We saw Pirates of the Caribbean on a 12 foot screen.

Fossil fuels are very interesting. Do you know how they are formed, and where they are? As for how they are formed, the theory is that fossils are compressed for long periods of time until they become liquid or solid. The solids are coal, and liquids are oil and natural gas.

The Middle East, Asia, and Africa have most of the oil. Natural gas reserves are mostly in Europe and North America. Coal is widely spread out. To see for your self look at this chart.

Ashes? What is Ashes? My pig is Ashes. My pig is lazy. I mean when I go out to play with the pigs, all the other pigs come up to me and Ashes stays under the building. Yes siree we have a dead horse. How did it happen? Let me tell you! It goes like this; the horse got spooked, tried to get out of her stall by jumping the gate. She smashed her skull, and took half the barn with her.

Now Papaw is burying (throwing in a hole) her right now! Now for people like Grandma who have a weak stomach for this kind of stuff we say bbfn, ahola, and goodbye. (Otherwise I would still be talking. Oh wait I am still talking.)

We have been tearing down a barn. If you read mom's blog read no further. But if not read to your heats content. We the story goes like this. Wegotalistingonfreecycleforafreebarnandsomelossehay. Got that? No? OK try (Oh wait it is "do or do not there is no try") to get it this time. We got a listing on free cycle for a free barn and loose hay. Got it this time? Good.

Now what happened. We being the scrounging people we are, naturally went to tear it down, by doing so creating lots of almost free stuff and saving lots of money. Wrong lots and lots of work, and not so great stuff. for pictures go to stkappleto.blogspot.com

Post Driver

We have another piece of equipment . A post driver. I do not know if you know, but we need this driver to build more fence. 3 miles of high tensile wire. Why the new wire? Well high tensile is stronger, cheaper, easier to set up, and douse not scratch you.

Why all the fence? Because we have 10 cows, 3 horses, 6 goats, 3 sheep, and 20 pigs. with all those animals we are running out of pasture FAST. so we need to build more fence which is why we now have a post driver.

St. bernards and Zelda update

The St. Bernard dog is a large dog. In fact the average one is 140- 240 lbs. I kinda would like one. I never thought I'd say this but, St. Bernard puppies are cute. There I said it. Here is a picture of one.
In Zelda we are to the water temple. Which means we beat Jabu- jabu, The forest temple, and The fire temple. We're about half way though the water temple, one key till dark link. So about half way though the game. BBFN

Yes fall is here the crisp air, the leaves, apples, pumkins. Speaking of apples we have been over loaded with them. Apple vinegar, butter, preserves, sauce, dried canned and fresh apples. Apple crisp, birds nest pudding, apple pie (haven't had that yet though). All these things good, but oh my gosh, look it is an avalanche of apples. I mean all day apples, apples, APPLES. It gets tiring. Oh well I've raved enough, thank for listening BBFN.

A cow’s stomach differs from or stomach in many ways. For instance a cow has four stomachs. Each serving a different propose. The first stomach, the rumen, softens the food. The food is passed down to the reticulum which hurls the food back up the esophagus as cud. The cow then swallows the cud taking it to the omasum which acts as an intestine and absorbs nutrients. The food goes to the abomasum which acts as a true stomach, like ours, which takes it to the small intestine and I’m not going to bother you with the rest.

Thrillville

Thrillville, my tiny small mini theme park. Actually it's two parks in one, we have Trillville and Zelda world. In Thrillville we have 4 rides, the monster, the fun one, son of the monster, and the grandson of the monster. In Zelda world we have 3 rides the Zelda the Epona and the Linkantor.

Now you are probably thinking how does a 10 year old get the resources to build multi-million dollar rides. Well I didn't. To ride these rides go to the top of a hill then step into a wagon, and hurl yourself down the hill. Please come. Free admission. Just kidding family and invites only. Bye-bye for now
